I moved to Adelaide with my 3 teenagers in 2016. At present, I am practising as a pharmacist in Adelaide. I am also the Managing Director of The Skin Pharmacy, a chain of shops specialising in skincare, in Singapore. My husband is currently based in Singapore, running our companies.
I can identify with the many ‘single’ Mums (and some Dads) who have emigrated to Adelaide while their spouses are still in Singapore. I also identify with the ‘mature’ migrants who have moved here in their mid-career and have to start all over again. And because I am also an employee and business owner, I identify with those wanting to start all over again by being an entrepreneur.
With these experiences, I hope to add diversity to the SBSA and to foster closer ties amongst its members and the wider Singaporean community.
My personal vision for the SBSA is to see it grow its membership numbers to include all Singaporeans and those with ties to Singapore. And in turn, with other committee members, I hope that the SBSA will be an association for providing support, organising integrative social activities, giving responsible advice and being the best representation of the Singaporean community in Adelaide.
Andrew is the Owner/Director for a few local businesses including GoDigital Australia (an IT consultation & Solutions provider), CS-II Australia (Importer & Distributor of US-brand car coating products), Bohemian Gypsy Pty Ltd (Lifestyle & Boutique Wine Maker), and a business associate for Merchant 138.
He moved to Adelaide in 2015 and brought with him over 10 years of experience in managing cross discipline and cross continent R&D teams within Multi-National Companies. He was also engaged as an Adjunct Consultant with The National University of Singapore, Institute of Systems Science before his move, and is a strong believer and advocator of collaborative business modelling and Agile methodology. He enjoys exploring use of meaningful technology to meet the different business challenges.
Andrew started in SBSA as the webmaster for the Association’s website and social media. He brought along experience from his involvement with The China Business Network of South Australia as the chair for marketing from 2016 to early 2018. His vision for SBSA over his 2 terms as the President from 2018 to 2020 was to build stronger partnerships with Singaporean-owned businesses, create opportunities for collaborations with locally-owned businesses and the government, and contribute to the Singaporean community and the economy of South Australia. In contrast, SBSA will also be a social platform for Singaporean families and friends to build relationships upon, and support each others in times of need.
