A meeting of Singaporeans and non-Singaporeans in SA was held on 24th November 2016 to discuss the formation of a new Singaporean Association in SA. Over 40 participants attended the meeting with a lively discussion on how to move ahead and to form a membership-based SA Singaporean organisation.

The meeting unanimously resolved to form a new organisation to represent the interests of Singaporeans in SA. Three past presidents of the Australia Singapore Business Council (SA) Inc. (ASBC)* were mandated to form a new SA organisation to represent the interests of Singaporeans in SA and hence the formation of the Singapore Business and Social Association (SA) Inc.

The SBSA will be a membership organisation based on principles of good governance and run in an open and transparent manner with a duly elected management committee that is accountable to its members.  

* The ASBC was formed in 1994 but for a number of years the ASBC has been moved away from a membership based association and hence Singaporeans were not able to join as members.
